Our local dental society thrives due to the active participation of our member dentists, and there are numerous ways you can get involved. Committees
Constitution & Bylaws
This elected committee helps guide the future of our Society by keeping our governing documents clear, accurate, and up to date. Members review proposed amendments, provide recommendations to the Board, and ensure all changes align with state guidelines. It’s a great way to play a direct role in shaping how our Society operates.
Judicial
This elected committee supports fairness and professionalism within the Society. Members review complaints or disputes involving colleagues, following the ethical guidelines of the Texas Dental Association. Serving on this committee is an opportunity to help uphold high standards and represent our Society in matters of ethics and conduct.
Program
This committee organizes continuing education courses, arranges Society meetings, and plans social events for members. It ensures our gatherings are both professionally enriching and enjoyable. Members of this committee play an important role in bringing colleagues together for learning, networking, and camaraderie.
Dental Health & Public Information
This appointed committee leads efforts to promote oral health and share the importance of dentistry with the public. Members plan community outreach programs, build relationships with local and state organizations, and share news about the Society’s work. Serving here is a chance to directly impact public health and awareness.
Legislative Action
This appointed committee connects our Society to important legislative and regulatory conversations at the state and national levels. Members keep colleagues informed about new developments, draft resolutions, and encourage dentists to get involved in advocacy. Participation offers a front-row seat to dentistry’s role in shaping public policy.
Membership Recruitment & Retention
This committee welcomes new members and helps them get connected with the benefits, resources, and community of the Society. Members also plan recruitment and retention efforts to keep our organization strong and growing. Serving on this committee is a wonderful way to help fellow dentists feel at home in the profession.
Peer Review
This elected committee helps mediate patient concerns and review treatment questions when they arise. Members receive training through the Texas Dental Association and work closely with its Peer Review Council to ensure patients and providers are treated fairly. It’s a meaningful way to protect trust between dentists and the community.
State Level
Delegates
Delegates serve as the official representatives of our Society in the Texas Dental Association House of Delegates. They attend annual meetings, keep the Society informed on issues and decisions, and help shape statewide dental policy. Delegates are elected to two-year staggered terms and also serve as ex officio members of the Board.
Alternate Delegates
Alternate Delegates attend the Texas Dental Association House of Delegates alongside the elected Delegates. They may participate in discussions and step in with full voting rights if a Delegate is unable to serve. Alternates are elected for one-year terms and play an important role in ensuring our Society is always represented.
